About Truffle Valley
Truffle Valley is a family run Black Winter truffle orchard at 9 Carters Lane, Seville in the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges area, about an hour from Melbourne. Guided truffle hunts run through the winter truffle season, from mid June to the end of August, with expertly trained truffle dogs sniffing out ripe truffles beneath the soil. Visitors go out with the handler and dog, and get to touch, smell and taste a freshly unearthed truffle. Hunts run on Saturday and Sunday mornings and cost $120 per person; the experience does not cater for young children, and booking ahead is recommended as spots fill up.
The farm gate shop is open Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm in season, selling freshly harvested truffles direct from the orchard, and Truffle Valley also lists partner wineries, dining venues and accommodation nearby, including Seville Estate Winery a few minutes away. This is a guided harvest experience built around a single high value crop rather than a self-service pick-your-own visit, so it sits outside the usual fruit and vegetable picking season.
