About Lanidale 'The Cherry Well'
Lanidale, known locally as The Cherry Well, is a cherry orchard at 235 Beenak Road, Wandin North, on the edge of the Yarra Valley wine district at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges. The orchard grows more than 20 cherry varieties, from large sweet cherries to smaller tangy ones, spanning both modern and heritage types, and also grows apricots.
Picking runs from November to January, with the orchard open daily from 8am to 6pm, including Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and closed only on Christmas Day. No booking is required. Visitors can pick their own cherries straight from the trees and bring a picnic to enjoy on the property, or buy fruit already picked and sorted if they would rather not pick themselves. Apricots are sold at the farm rather than picked by visitors. As with most cherry orchards, the exact picking window depends on the season and the weather, so it is worth checking the farm's Facebook page for current dates before making the trip out.
