About Killiecrankie Farm
Killiecrankie Farm at Glengarry, in the West Tamar district near Launceston, was established in 2007 as Tasmania's first pick your own Christmas tree farm.
The farm no longer runs general open days. Instead it sells trees over a small number of selected weekend dates each year, from the last weekend of November into mid December, with entry by a timed pass booked online through Eventbrite. In its 2025 season a farm gate pass cost $20 per family, redeemable as a deposit against the tree chosen, and passes were non-refundable and non-transferable. Visitors choose and cut their own tree using measuring sticks and safety hand saws supplied on site; battery and fuel powered tools are not allowed. Picnic rugs among the trees are welcome.
The farm also runs a free yearly recycling service: customers can bring back last year's tree to be chipped and returned to the farm as mulch. Exact 2026 dates and pricing had not been published at time of writing, so check the farm's website or social media before planning a visit.
