About The Joyful Little Art Space Sunflower Field
The Joyful Little Art Space runs a pick your own sunflower field on a family sheep farm at 462 Boyup Brook Road North, in Boyup Brook in the South West. Local artist Jennifer Goerling turned a paddock that was too wet to farm reliably into a trial sunflower field, opening it to the public for the first time over summer, when more than 1000 visitors travelled to Boyup Brook to see, photograph and pick the flowers.
The field opens on select days over summer, typically December to February, with dates announced on The Joyful Little Art Space's Facebook page rather than fixed in advance. Entry is $10, paid in cash at the gate, and covers a bucket to fill with sunflowers cut from the field. Visitors are asked to bring their own bucket and garden snips, and to wear boots and a hat for the paddock. Sunflower bouquets grown from the same property are also sold at Goerling's art studio in town and at local cafes and markets outside the picking days. Because this is a small scale, weather dependent operation rather than a fixed commercial farm, checking Facebook before travelling out is essential.
