About Core Cider House
Core Cider House is a fourth generation apple orchard and cider maker at 35 Merrivale Road, Pickering Brook, in the Bickley Valley in the Perth Hills. Alongside its cider garden and Orchard Bistro restaurant, the property runs guided fruit picking tours through its working orchard each summer and autumn, from January to March.
The tour starts with a tractor ride out through the orchard rows, and visitors pick apples straight from the trees, with plums and pears also available to pick when they are in season. Tickets cost $15 per person plus a booking fee, with children under 3 free, and each ticket includes a paper bag to fill with apples, which can also be eaten while picking. Bookings are essential and fill quickly on weekends, so reserving a spot ahead of a visit is recommended. The wider property has a playground with a tractor and climbing logs, picnic areas and shaded spaces, and keeps its own opening hours separate from the tour times, running Wednesday to Sunday.
