About Carmel Cherry Farm
Carmel Cherry Farm is a family run pick your own cherry orchard at 10 Morton Road, Carmel, in the Perth Hills, about 30 minutes from central Perth. The property only opens to the public during its cherry season each November and December, and it cannot be visited without a booking. Visitors join a waitlist through the farm's Facebook page and are given a slot for a timed picking session, usually about an hour, in the rows of cherry trees.
Entry costs $10 per adult, with children free, and everything picked is then paid for by the kilogram on the way out. The farm also grows lychees and loquats, along with mangoes and avocados, some of which are opened for picking later in the season. There is a toilet at the back of the property and a counter for buying seasonal produce. Because the cherry season is short and depends on the weather and how the fruit is ripening, the farm's Facebook page is the only reliable way to find out when bookings open in a given year. Visitors are advised to bring hats, sunscreen, water and their own bags or boxes for the cherries.
