About Ballantyne's Strawberry Farm
Ballantyne's Strawberry Farm is a family run pick your own farm at Mount Charlton, in the foothills of Eungella National Park about an hour north of Mackay. The Ballantyne family, Alan and Margaret, have run the farm for over twenty years and grow more than 50,000 strawberry plants.
This is a Queensland winter strawberry farm, with picking running roughly June or July through to September; the exact start date depends on how the plants are growing each year, so it is worth calling ahead. Strawberries are sold by the punnet: $10 for the first punnet and $5 for each additional one. The farm also opens for blueberry picking from October through to January.
On site there is a cafe serving strawberry milkshakes, crepes and scones, along with toilets, accessible parking and wheelchair access. The farm sits on a creek in bushland setting with swimming and fishing nearby, and camping is available. Mobile phone reception is limited to non existent on the property. Opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 8am to 4pm, and EFTPOS is available alongside cash.
