About Brightly Sunflowers
Brightly Sunflowers is a seasonal sunflower field at North Eton in the Mackay region, run as a single ticketed event window each year rather than an ongoing open farm. Sunflowers are planted around June or July and the field opens to the public once they flower, typically around October, with dates confirmed closer to the time on the farm's Facebook page.
The farm has run two kinds of sessions: a Sunflower Family Day with rides through the fields, a fire brigade display, farm machinery, a petting zoo, face painting and food vendors, ticketed by the car; and simpler wander-and-pick sessions with free entry to walk the field and take photos. In both cases, picking your own sunflowers costs $2 per stem, paid on exit. Visitors are asked to bring their own scissors or secateurs and a bucket or basket.
Closed shoes are recommended for the dusty ground, along with a hat, sunscreen and water. Portable toilets are provided on site and well behaved dogs are welcome on a leash, with owners asked to bring water and clean up after their pets. Because this is a short annual event rather than a season running for months, check Facebook for confirmed dates and ticket links before planning a visit.
