About Sorell Fruit Farm
Sorell Fruit Farm is Tasmania's best known pick your own fruit farm, on Pawleena Road at Sorell, about 25 minutes from Hobart and 15 minutes from Hobart Airport and from Richmond.
The farm grows a long list of fruit across the season: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and boysenberries, sweet cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, apples and pears, so there is usually something in season somewhere on the property. Cherries are the December and January highlight, and the berries carry through from spring into autumn.
The farm is open daily from October to May, closing only for Christmas Day and Good Friday. A picking and entry fee applies at the gate, and visitors are given containers to fill in the paddocks before paying for what they have picked. On site there is a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating serving Devonshire tea and berry ice cream, plus a farm shop selling the farm's own jams, fruit vinegars and fruit liqueurs.
