About Romswood Peony Farm
Romswood Peony Farm is a working peony farm in the tiny locality of Kerrie in the Macedon Ranges, about an hour and a quarter north west of Melbourne. It is run by Virginia McIntosh and has been growing herbaceous and tree peonies commercially since the mid 1990s, set within an established ornamental garden.
The farm opens for a short run of ticketed Pick Your Own Peonies sessions each year, usually across mid November to early December once the flowers come into bloom; in 2025 sessions ran from 15 November to 7 December. Exact 2026 dates are announced on the farm's own website closer to the season, since timing depends on the peony harvest. A Picker ticket costs $57 and includes garden and paddock entry plus 15 cut stems; a Non-Picker ticket for garden and field access without cutting is $20, and children under 18 are free. Tickets are sold in advance online and are non refundable, and sessions go ahead regardless of weather.
Outside the picking sessions, cut peony bunches and peony plants are sold at the farm gate. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear, as the property sits at an elevation that runs several degrees cooler than Melbourne.
