About Lorien Blueberries

Lorien Blueberries is a pick-your-own blueberry farm on Sebbes Road at Forest Grove, in karri and jarrah forest about fifteen minutes south of Margaret River. The Warren family has grown blueberries here for more than thirty years, on a four-hectare orchard of more than 600 bushes, alongside pecan, chestnut and macadamia trees. The property takes its name from Lothlorien in The Lord of the Rings. Picking is open seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, from mid to late December through to late February, depending on how the crop runs that year. There is no entry fee: pickers weigh their own blueberries and pay only for what they take home, using a self-service record sheet in the picking shed and paying by cash or bank transfer. Visitors are asked to bring a hat, sunscreen, covered shoes and water, and to sign a visitor book and safety waiver on arrival. Most people pick two to three kilograms in a visit, with February usually the busiest month of the season. The orchard is grown without pesticides or herbicides, using drip irrigation and natural fertiliser.
