About Ford's Farm
Ford's Farm is a family run pick your own citrus orchard on the banks of the Hawkesbury River at 1275 Singleton Road, Laughtondale, about 15 minutes from Wisemans Ferry. The citrus orchard was planted more than 60 years ago and some of the original Emperor mandarin trees are still producing fruit; the farm has run as a pick your own destination for the past two decades or more. The main drawcard is mandarins, with satsuma, imperial and hickson varieties, alongside oranges, lemons, limes and cumquats.
The season runs roughly June to July and the farm opens for selected sessions rather than every day, with numbers capped because the roads in are narrow. Visitors book a date and a one hour arrival window through TryBooking; entry is around $10 to $20 per car covering up to six or seven people, and fruit is charged separately at about $3 per kilo, with cumquats around $10 per kilo. The farm can close early once the mandarin crop is picked out, sometimes reopening later in the season for cumquats. There is a small picnic area, and the farm sells its own honey, jams, cordial and chutneys, with coffee, hot chocolate and homemade cakes also available on site.
