About Eastern Colour
Eastern Colour is a third generation family farm run by the Baronio family at Applethorpe, just north of Stanthorpe on the Granite Belt. The family has grown fruit in the Stanthorpe district since the 1930s and at this Applethorpe site since the mid-1970s, and it is the only spot in the district offering pick your own apples and strawberries at the one farm.
The farm opens its gates for pick your own one weekend a month through the harvest, running from October through to June. Strawberries are grown hydroponically, and the apple picking runs from new season Royal Gala in February through to Pink Lady later in the season. Visitors pick by the kilogram and pay only for what they pick, with no separate entry fee.
Bookings are essential and are taken through the farm's Facebook page or an online form, with strict arrival windows on open weekends (typically 9am to 2pm). The farm is dog friendly for leashed pets and has a public toilet and wheelchair access. Applethorpe is about 5 km north of Stanthorpe, roughly two and a half hours from Brisbane. Check the farm's Facebook page before travelling to confirm the next open weekend, as dates depend on how the crop is progressing.
