About Shimmering Pines Farm

Shimmering Pines Farm is a family run flower farm at 443 Finnis Point Road, Tarlee, between the Barossa Valley and the Clare Valley, about 90 minutes from Adelaide and 30 minutes from Gawler. The farm grows around 50 irrigated rows of seasonal blooms, best known for its sunflowers, and has become known for its Sunflower Festival and Fairytale Farm Fair events.

Pick your own flower sessions run on selected days from summer school holidays into autumn, sold as tickets through the farm's website and TryBooking, with dates released to email subscribers before general release. A Summer Blooms session costs $25 and includes 10 stems, a jar and snip hire. The farm also runs a Fairytale Farm Fair weekend each February, with $15 adult entry, free entry for children, market stalls, food vendors and family entertainment alongside the flower picking. Because the fields open only when the blooms are ready, visitors are told to follow the farm on social media or join the newsletter rather than expect a fixed weekly opening. Farm appropriate footwear, a hat, sunscreen, water and insect repellent are recommended for the visit.
