About Richmond Christmas Tree Farm
Richmond Christmas Tree Farm is a family owned choose and cut Christmas tree farm about five minutes north of Richmond, in the Coal River Valley, roughly 30 minutes from Hobart. The farm has been growing trees on site since 2012.
Trees are sold only through ticketed open days each December, and there are no walk up sales. Tickets for the season go on sale online at 7pm on 15 November each year and have sold out in past seasons, so early booking matters if you want to visit. On the day, visitors walk into the field, choose their own tree, and cut it themselves with a hand saw supplied by the farm, or have staff cut it for them. Chosen trees are bagged and tied ready to take home.
Trees start at $55 for a 4 foot tree, with the price increasing per foot of height from there.
Because the farm trades on a short run of open days rather than a full month, it is worth checking the farm's website or Facebook page for the confirmed 2026 open day dates and ticket release rather than assuming last year's calendar repeats exactly.
