About Hill-Lock Orchard
Hill-Lock Orchard is a family owned orchard at Wombat, about ten minutes from Young in the Hilltops region of New South Wales, established in 1998. Visitors can pick their own cherries and strawberries straight from the trees and beds, and the farm shed sells pre-picked fruit and vegetables through the year, including plums, apricots, persimmons and figs.
Cherry picking runs from November into late December, weather permitting, as part of the wider cluster of Hilltops orchards around Young and Wombat that make the district Australia's best known cherry growing area. Because picking dates depend on how the crop is tracking and on the weather, it is worth phoning ahead or checking the orchard's Facebook page before driving out, particularly early or late in the season.
The orchard is a working farm rather than a tourist attraction, so visitors should expect gravel or grass underfoot and wear sturdy shoes. There is car parking on site. Contact the orchard directly for current pricing and container arrangements, as these are not published online.
