About Beerenberg Farm
Beerenberg Farm is a strawberry pick your own farm on Mount Barker Road in Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, about 30 minutes from Adelaide's CBD. The Paech family has farmed the property since 1839, and pick your own strawberries has run continuously here since 1975, making it one of the best known farms of its kind in Australia. The strawberry patch is open almost every day from November to April, from 9am with last field entry at 4.15pm, though the patch can close for a few days at a time if the fruit is picked out or the weather turns, so it is worth checking the website before visiting. Entry to the patch costs $5 per person, with children 12 and under free, and strawberries are charged at $13.50 per kilogram picked. On arrival visitors are given a wristband and a recyclable cardboard container before heading out to the rows. The farm has its own shop and cafe on site, selling Beerenberg's own jams and preserves along with strawberry treats. Comfortable flat shoes and sun protection are recommended, as there is limited shade in the patch. Animals are not permitted in the strawberry patch or visitor centre, other than service dogs.
